Mahesh Landge, MLA from Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) representing the Bhosari assembly constituency, has been instrumental in pushing for the development of the Biodiversity Park in Talawade. His persistent efforts with the municipal corporation and the state government have finally borne fruit. As per the information, funding for the project will be sourced from the state government’s “Majhi Vasundhara” scheme and the central government.
An official from PCMC stated that the Biodiversity Park will pave the way for a more sustainable and harmonious coexistence between humans and nature. Through restoration initiatives, educational programs, and community engagement, the park will exemplify the transformative power of responsible environmental stewardship. This revitalized landscape is expected to contribute significantly to the city’s future aesthetic, as preserving biodiversity is not just a necessity but a collective responsibility.
Under the Majhi Vasundhara campaign, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has received the first prize at the state level in the Amrut Group, as well as recognition for outstanding performance in the thematic park category. A total of ₹10 crore will be allocated for the development of the project, with ongoing efforts to secure additional funding from the state government for developing the Biodiversity Park.
About the Biodiversity Park:
The Biodiversity Park is planned over approximately 70 acres, featuring the planting of indigenous trees and the creation of a forest area. It will also establish habitats for various animals and birds. The park will include soil conservation efforts, tree planting through various themes, an entrance gate, bird nest walls, parking, a golf cart, and bicycle station, three entrance plazas, an amphitheater, a souvenir shop, workshops, cafes, a butterfly garden, riparian and wetlands areas, an orchidarium, a thematic park showcasing colors and core forest areas, toilet blocks, bio-disaster management, kiosks, stream crossings, signage for ecological awareness, benches, lighting, pathways, picnic spots, a restaurant area, bridge lighting, visibility lighting, a public address system, and waste management facilities.
“The challenge before humanity is to prevent environmental pollution and the degradation of our planet. The Chikhali-Moshi-Charholi Residential Corridor is being developed, with numerous housing projects underway. In this context, it is essential to maintain ecological balance. Through collaboration between the municipal corporation, state government, and central government, we aim to preserve and enhance biodiversity in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area, ensuring the conservation of natural ecosystems. Future generations deserve clean air and a natural environment. Hence, we initiated the development of the Biodiversity Park. The municipal administration has begun action in this regard, and I believe this project will attract tourists from around the world. I hope the tender process for this project will be completed soon so that work can commence,” said Landge.
