7th India-Korea Independence Day Golf Tournament Celebrated in Pune

Pune, 25th August 2024: The 7th annual India-Korea Independence Day Golf Tournament was held at the Oxford Golf and Country Club, bringing together golf enthusiasts from both nations to celebrate their shared spirit of independence. The event took place on last Sunday afternoon, marking a significant occasion for the 80 participants who gathered to enjoy the sport, foster networking, and build cross-cultural camaraderie.

The tournament, which celebrates the Independence Days of India (August 15th) and South Korea, was organized jointly by Golf Trotters and the South Korean Golf Association. Golf Trotters, a non-profit organization based in Pune, is led by Ram Agarwal, Sachin Kulkarni, and Sameer Ambegaonkar. The South Korean Golf Association, co-organizers of the event, is headed by Edgar Lee and Choo Hyun Suk.

The friendly competition, conducted in a contributory format, attracted 80 golfers, including 40 South Koreans, who competed in the stable ford format. Participants paid a fee covering registration, golf course charges, and dinner, underscoring the community-driven spirit of the event.

The tournament concluded with a grand prize distribution ceremony followed by a gala dinner at Kalinga Banquet Halls on Karve Road. Prizes were awarded to golfers from both countries, including spot prizes for the “Closest to Pin” and “Straightest Drive,” as well as trophies for the tournament winners.
