Chakan, 13th September 2024: Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, Finance Minister, and Guardian Minister of Pune District, Ajit Pawar, announced yesterday that the state government has approved the establishment of 11 new police stations—seven in Pune and four in Pimpri Chinchwad. Speaking at a Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) rally in Chakan, where he inaugurated several infrastructure projects worth ₹550 crore, Pawar shared details of these new developments.

In Pune, the new police stations will be located in Nanded City, Baner, Kale Padal, Phursungi, Kharadi, Ambegaon, and Wagholi. Meanwhile, Pimpri Chinchwad will see new police stations in Sant Tukaram Nagar, Dapodi, Kalewadi, and Bavdhan. Currently, Pune has 32 police stations, including a specialized Cyber Crime Unit, while Pimpri Chinchwad has 18 stations, also featuring a Cyber Crime branch.

Pawar emphasized the Maharashtra Government’s recent investments in law enforcement, stating, “The Pune City Police Commissionerate, Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate, and Pune Rural Police Force had requested new patrol vehicles. Over the past three years, the Maharashtra Government has allocated ₹50 crore for police vehicles. We are also upgrading facilities. With these improvements, it is the duty of the police to ensure that illegal activities are curbed.”

During the event, Pawar also addressed concerns about illegal activities in the temple towns of Dehu and Alandi, which attract large numbers of devotees. “We will take strict action against those involved in illegal activities in these areas. No one will be exempt,” he warned. He further emphasized that he does not condone political favoritism, adding, “I do not believe in political interference. If someone close to me is found violating the law, I have instructed the police to take appropriate action without hesitation.”
