Pune, 25th August 2024: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Guardian Minister of Pune, Ajit Pawar, has taken swift action in response to a series of citizen complaints from the Vadgaon Sheri area. In front of residents of VadgaonSheri, he spoke to Pune Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale. He instructed immediate resolution of issues related to stray dogs, garbage management, and encroachments outside liquor shops.

The directive came after Pawar recently participated in the Jansamman Yatra, where he engaged with Vadgaon Sheri residents who voiced concerns about various civic issues. Among the grievances were the irregular arrival of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) garbage pickup trucks and the frequent absence of municipal ward officers. Residents also claimed that PMC officials cited a lack of funds as the reason for inadequate cleaning services.

Pawar, in response, emphasized the urgency of addressing these issues and instructed Commissioner Bhosale to ensure that appropriate arrangements are made to rectify the situation promptly.

One of the more pressing concerns raised was related to women’s safety. A female resident highlighted the problem of vendors, including egg sellers, who set up stalls in front of liquor shops, causing discomfort and safety concerns for women using the road. Pawar, acknowledging the severity of the issue, directed Bhosale to take strict enforcement actions against such encroachments.

Pawar’s directive underscored the importance of even minimal enforcement, suggesting that a strict action of just 5% would lead to a 95% improvement in the situation. He emphasized that these actions should be taken without delay to ensure the safety and well-being of residents.

The meeting where these directives were discussed was attended by prominent NCP leaders, including NCP State President Sunil Tatkare, NCP Women Wing president Rupali Chakankar, and MLA Sunil Tingre. Recently Ajit Pawar’s office checked the status with PMC with reference to action on issues discussed with PMC Commissioner.
