Pune, 10th September 2024: By avoiding the cost of the immersion procession, a Ganpati Mandal provided financial assistance of Rs 25,000 to Pandurang Trimbak Manwadkar, whose house was damaged due to flood at Ektangari on Sinhagad road. The Utsav Mitra Mandal at Ganjwe Chowk in Navi Peth has appealed to preserve Pune’s heritage through a jivant dekhava; commonly known as skits at Mandals.
A cheque for financial assistance was handed over to Manwadkar in the presence of Congress state general secretary Abhay Chhajed, Dinesh Bhilare, Director of Udyam Vikas Sahakari Bank Anant Gharat, and journalist Sambhaji Patil.
In this year’s Ganeshotsav, the Mandal has presented a skit to preserve Pune’s heritage. Pune’s changing identity from a Hub of Education to a city of traffic to a hotbed of crime and addiction is portrayed in this vivid scene. From the said skit, an appeal has been made to try to regain the cultural, educational, and social identity of old Pune. The concept of the skit is by Santosh Shikare.
Sudhir Kale, Working President of the Mandal, informed that the said Mandal was established in 1972. Every year, the Mandal avoids the expenses of immersion procession and spends this fund on various social activities.
Atul Dharme, Sachin Gaikwad, Vinay Kadam, Sumit Kale, Vijay Lonkar, Tushar Saste, Sunil Wable, Dhananjay Lonkar, Prateek Kale, Balasaheb Kamble, Shailesh Kadam, Anil Tapkir, Akash Kharate were also present on the occasion.
