Ex-MLA Vijay Shivtare Advocates For New Civic Corporation In Pune’s Hadapsar And Purandar Areas

“The goal is to establish a separate municipal corporation, bringing rural areas under its ambit, and enhancing civic management similar to the PCMC,” Shivtare said, emphasizing the future growth of industrial zones in Jejuri and the surrounding areas due to improved water availability. The Purandar constituency, including Phursungi-Uruli Devachi, Saswad, and the Jejuri temple town, is poised to become a key development hub, he added. The construction of an international airport at Purandar, along with Palkhi Road’s future road and rail connectivity, further strengthens the region’s potential.

Political support for this initiative has been growing across party lines. Prominent leaders like NCP (SP) chief Sharad Pawar have expressed concerns about the increasing strain on Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and emphasized the need for a new civic body to manage the growing population and urbanization in Hadapsar and Haveli. Pawar indicated that discussions with local citizens would guide the final decision.
