Pimpri Chinchwad, 3rd September 2024: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has begun preparations for the upcoming Legislative Elections in Maharashtra. MLC Pankaja Mundhe has been assigned responsibility for the Chinchwad Constituency. Today, she held a meeting in Rahatani. Several former corporators, including the current MLA and BJP’s Pimpri Chinchwad City President, are interested in contesting from Chinchwad.
In this context, MLC Pankaja Mundhe has made a significant statement. The stakes are high in the Chinchwad Constituency due to internal conflicts not only within alliances and parties but also within a family, where a brother-in-law is opposing his sister-in-law. Incumbent MLA Ashwini Jagtap, who won the byelection last January following the death of her husband, Laxman Jagtap, is now facing a challenge from Laxman Jagtap’s younger brother, Shankar Jagtap. Shankar is the current president of the BJP in Pimpri Chinchwad. Pankaja Mundhe has revealed her strategy for managing this ‘complex’ situation.
When asked about her strategy for navigating this ‘complex’ situation, Pankaja Mundhe said, “Constituency-wise tours are underway. Attendance of office bearers is expected at these meetings, and conversations are being held with them. Organizational issues are being discussed, and preparations for the assembly elections are ongoing. The number of aspirants within the party for the Chinchwad seat is high, and one candidate must be chosen from this list. The core committee of the party has extensive experience in this area, so a suitable decision will be made.”
“Apology Given for Malvan Incident, No Further Comments”
When asked about the current issue being widely discussed—the collapse of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s statue in Malvan due to heavy winds and rains—Pankaja Mundhe said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has apologized for the collapse of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Malvan. Such incidents sometimes occur in society. Politicians may politicize why these incidents happen, but Prime Minister Modi has offered his apology. After this apology, there has been a complete pause. It is an unfortunate incident, and orders have been issued to address it. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj holds a special place in our hearts, and everyone has felt the pain of his statue falling. I will not comment on any statements made by other leaders.” With that, Mundhe declined to comment further.
