Trinamool Congress released footage showing Banerjee waiting alone in a hall, prepared for dialogue with the doctors, but the stalemate persisted. A group of 32 doctors, representing the protesters, remained outside the state secretariat, refusing to enter after the authorities denied permission for live streaming, citing legal constraints.
“We waited for two hours to meet them. We had written to the doctors, and they agreed to come, which is why we arranged this meeting,” Banerjee stated. She explained that key officials, including the Chief Secretary, Director-General of Police, and Home Secretary, were present and ready for open discussions.
On the issue of live streaming, Banerjee clarified that it was not allowed because the matter is currently under judicial consideration. Despite the doctors’ absence, she emphasized that no punitive action would be taken against them.
