Indian Air Force Airlifts Organs From Pune To Delhi For Life-Saving Surgery


To expedite the process, a “green corridor” was established, ensuring that the organs moved efficiently through all required stages without delay. This seamless coordination between the air force and ground authorities highlights the IAF’s capacity for rapid emergency response.

The Indian Air Force through his X handle shared the news. ” At a moment’s notice, an #IAF C-17 Globemaster from Hindan took off late last night with a team of medical specialists from R&R Military Hospital. A Green Air corridor was created for the C-17 aircraft to facilitate airlift of  live organs from Pune to Delhi, enabling a critical life-saving surgery.

The C-17 Globemaster, typically used for large-scale humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) missions, was also recently deployed to Vietnam to assist in relief efforts following Typhoon Yagi. Its versatility and reliability were once again demonstrated in this life-saving medical transport.

The successful completion of this operation underlines the critical role played by the IAF in supporting healthcare initiatives and providing timely assistance during medical emergencies, showcasing its dedication to humanitarian efforts both domestically and internationally.
