The upcoming Swift CNG will carry the trusted Z-series three-cylinder petrol engine, known for its balance of efficiency and performance. Customers will have a variety of trims to choose from, ensuring that there’s a version to meet different needs and budgets.
Price and Market Competitiveness
While the petrol-powered Swift ranges from Rs. 6.49 lakh to Rs. 9.60 lakh (ex-showroom), the CNG variant is expected to be priced roughly Rs. 80,000 higher. Despite a slight reduction in power and torque compared to its petrol counterpart, the Swift CNG is positioned to be a strong contender in the CNG hatchback segment, competing with models like the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and Tata Tiago.
Maruti Suzuki’s CNG Vision and Future Plans
The launch of the Swift CNG is part of Maruti Suzuki’s broader goal of selling over six lakh CNG vehicles in the current financial year. The company is also exploring additional CNG options across its lineup, potentially expanding the Z12E engine to more models. Additionally, there are rumors of a locally developed strong hybrid engine in the works.
Looking ahead, Maruti Suzuki is preparing for the launch of its first electric vehicle, the eVX, in the coming year, while also bolstering its SUV offerings with models like the three-row Grand Vitara.
With the new Swift CNG, Maruti Suzuki continues to solidify its leadership in the Indian automotive market, offering a competitive, fuel-efficient, and eco-friendly choice for consumers.
