Mumbai: Car gets trapped as road caves-in near Siddhivinayak Temple

Traffic police, assisted by local residents, managed to pull the car out of the crater. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in the incident.

The incident happened near the Prabhadevi signal, close to the Siddhivinayak Temple, which is seeing increased traffic due to the ongoing Ganpati festival.

The incident, which occurred near the busy intersection, briefly disrupted vehicular movement in Dadar.

Owing to this large pothole, the Mumbai Traffic Police reported slow traffic movement at Swatantryaveer Savarkar Marg, Prabhadevi.

A video of the collapse surfaced on social media, showing the steel grey car’s tyre stuck in the crater while locals gathered to document the scene. This situation created a panic-like situation in public.

One user on X urged authorities to acknowledge the severity of the situation, suggesting that it should be classified as a “sinkhole” rather than a mere “pothole.”

Another X user offered a sarcastic remark: “Big potholes like these keep appearing in big cities. Mumbai is lucky where the roads are made for potholes.” This comment highlights the ongoing concerns about the quality of road maintenance in the city.

However, the civic body is yet to officially respond to the mishap.
