Mumbai Police Summons BookMyShow CEO Over Coldplay Concert Ticket Black Market Sales

Coldplay, set to perform in Mumbai on January 18, 19, and 21 as part of their “Music of the Spheres” World Tour, has drawn significant attention after tickets sold out within seconds of going live on BookMyShow. Originally priced between Rs 2,500 and Rs 35,000, these tickets have reportedly appeared on third-party resale platforms like Viagogo, being sold for up to Rs 3 lakh, sparking outrage among fans and raising legal concerns.

BookMyShow has denied any partnership with third-party platforms and issued a warning to avoid purchasing from unauthorized sources due to the risk of counterfeit tickets. The company has also lodged a complaint with the police regarding the alleged sale of fake tickets and emphasized its commitment to cooperating fully with the investigation.

Vyas’ complaint suggests that unethical practices by BookMyShow prevented genuine fans from purchasing tickets during the official sale on September 22. The reselling of tickets at inflated prices has prompted a broader discussion on the regulation of ticket sales for major events in India.
