Mumbai-Pune Missing Link Project Deadline Extended to May 2025

98% of tunnel work is complete, with only internal systems remaining. Two connecting bridges are being constructed, with one 1.8 km bridge finished and the 950-meter cable-stayed bridge 60-65% complete. The project will open to traffic after completion in May 2025.

The 13.3 km-long Missing Link Project features two major tunnels—one 1.67 km and the other 8.92 km long. The project utilizes modern technology for safety. The completed section will include Asia’s widest tunnel (23.30 meters) with four lanes and an emergency lane.

The cable-stayed bridge is 650 meters long, with pillars rising 180 meters and a span of 305 meters between pillars. The project aims to eliminate the steep slopes and ghat sections of the current expressway, making the 19 km stretch from Khopoli to Sinhagad Institute a “zero fatality corridor.”
