Now, iPhone users can finally see who is calling them with the Truecaller update!

Truecaller has faced criticism over alleged unauthorized data collection. However, the company has denied any wrongdoing.

Truecaller users on iPhones have long struggled with limited features available for iOS, especially when compared to Android.

The app’s most popular feature, caller ID, has not worked smoothly on iPhones. Despite an update last year, users had to interact with Siri to identify callers, adding an extra step to the process.

However, the long wait is over, as this is about to change with the new iOS 18 update.

The CEO of Truecaller, Alan Mamedi confirmed that the update will enable iPhone users to get access to the Live Caller ID on their devices, making Truecaller function the way its users have always wanted.

He cited iOS 18’s feature release documentation, which introduces a Live Caller ID lookup for iPhones. New APIs will allow developers like Truecaller to fetch information from their servers and provide real-time caller identification in a way that preserves privacy.

Taking it to social media platform X, Mamedi expressed: “From the iOS 18 feature release documentation 🙂 Soon we will hopefully hear people say ‘Truecaller finally works on iPhone’. Even though it has worked fairly OK in the last 2 years, this time it will be just like you would expect Truecaller to work, end to end.”

The post also shared screenshots of release documentations of iOS 18 which reads:

“Call history search – Search for previous calls, transcribed voicemails, and contacts using a broad range of search criteria. Type in a number, a name, or a caller ID like “plumber” or “bank” to instantly fetch call history in real time. Search within Recents in the Phone app or use Spotlight Search to quickly surface information.

Live caller ID lookup – New APIs allow developers like Truecaller to fetch information from their servers and provide live caller ID for incoming calls, in a privacy-preserving way.”

The update is seen as a major victory for Truecaller, especially after its reputation was marred by a 2022 investigation by The Caravan.

Truecaller co-founder, Nami Zarringhalam, also posted on X, celebrating the culmination of nine years of effort. The team often faced setbacks, including a loss of faith at times, but now they are excited for iPhone users to finally experience Truecaller’s full capabilities.

Subsequently, iPhone users seem to be quite happy about the new update coming to iOS 18.Truecaller will soon be able to function more effectively on iPhones, offering real-time caller identification and improved user experience, closing the gap between iOS and Android functionality.
