Pune, 11th October 2024: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has opened applications for 1,337 remaining flats under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) scheme.

In Peth No. 12, there are 47 flats in the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category and 614 flats in the Low-Income Group (LIG) section. In Peth Nos. 30-32, there are 347 homes under the EWS category and 329 flats in the LIG section. Citizens can apply from tomorrow until 12th November 2024, giving them one month to submit their applications.

Dr. Yogesh Mhase, Metropolitan Commissioner of PMRDA, provided details regarding the housing scheme. Present at the announcement were Additional Commissioner Deepak Singla, Chief Engineer Ashok Bhalkar, Joint Commissioner in Charge Himmat Kharade, and Tehsildar Abhijeet Jagtap.

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, the price for a 1 BHK flat in the EWS category, measuring 29.55 square meters, is Rs 15,74,424. In contrast, a 2 BHK flat in the LIG category, with an area of 59.27 square meters, costs Rs 35,57,200. Additionally, the price for one-room kitchen flats in the EWS category, located in Peth Nos. 30 and 32 and covering an area of 25.52 square meters, is Rs 20,90,771. The cost of a 1 BHK flat in the LIG category, with an area of 34.57 square meters, is Rs 28,32,208.
A deposit of Rs 5,000 is required for EWS category flats, and Rs 10,000 for LIG category flats in the housing project. Online applications for both categories can be submitted until 12th November 2024, with an application fee of Rs 708, inclusive of GST. PMRDA urges applicants to visit the website http://housing.pmrda.gov.in to complete the online application form.

Dr. Yogesh Mhase, Metropolitan Commissioner of PMRDA, emphasized, “The entire lottery process is conducted through a computerized system, ensuring no human intervention. Therefore, citizens interested in the flats should apply online.”

Two men from Madhya Pradesh encountered an unexpected situation when one was charged more than the other for the same journey.

Recently, a significant ticketing error on the railway came to light, prompting public attention and intervention from railway officials.

The two men, who are brothers-in-law, set off on a trip from Sagar to Jaipur on October 5.

They bought their tickets from different sources, and while conversing on the train, they discovered the differences in their ticket costs.

They decided to report the issue to local authorities. Upon returning to Sagar, they recounted their experience to Local18. As the story gained traction, railway officials initiated an investigation.

Sanjay Nanhoria and Shyam Sundar Soni, residing in Mohan Nagar, Sagar, were set to attend an event in Jaipur, leaving the city on October 5. They intended to travel on the Dayodaya Express. Sanjay arrived at platform 2 around 11:42 PM and purchased a ticket for Rs 205.

Moments before, Shyam Sundar purchased a ticket for the same train for Rs 180 from platform 1 at the station. After boarding from Platform 2, they checked their tickets and discovered the price difference.

Local18 reached out to Senior Divisional Commercial Manager Madhur Verma at Jabalpur Railway Station for clarification on the situation. He confirmed that the official fare from Sagar to Jaipur is Rs 205, indicating that the Rs 180 ticket was a mistake, and staff are currently being trained on this issue.

There are many scams linked to Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) tickets. Fraudsters may use Google ads to advertise fake refund offers for IRCTC tickets. They can also create fraudulent websites that closely resemble official IRCTC sites, asking for personal and banking information.

Additionally, scammers might design fake applications that look like IRCTC apps. They could trick users into downloading apps such as AnyDesk or Rest Desk, which would allow them access to the user’s device.

Pune, 11th October 2024: Sudden rain lashed Pune today, catching many off guard. On the eve of Dussehra, numerous Punekars were out shopping, but the unexpected downpour disrupted their plans. Roadside vendors selling flowers and puja materials had to quickly cover their goods, with marigold flower and coconut sellers particularly suffering losses.

The heavy rain continued in areas such as Kothrud, Bavdhan, Aundh, Sinhagad Road, Sun City, Shivajinagar, Warje, and Central Peth, lasting for around twenty minutes.

Despite the rain, Pune’s residents flocked to the markets to buy puja essentials and other festive items for Dussehra. The sudden showers affected both sellers and buyers, with flower vendors facing significant challenges. Additionally, waterlogged roads created further inconvenience.

Today also marks the last day of Navratri, with several Garba and Dandiya programs scheduled across the city. Unfortunately, the rain dampened the festivities, disappointing many youths who had dressed up in traditional attire, excited for the evening’s celebrations.

Police stated that Bagchi claimed to have a qualification in BEMS (Bachelor of Electro- Homeopathy Medicine And Surgery) and ND (Naturopathy Doctor) and was treating patients suffering from piles.

Police are further investigating the case.

Pune, 11th October 2024: In a significant breakthrough, Pune Police have detained three suspects in connection with the brutal gang rape of a 21-year-old woman at Bopdev Ghat. The incident, which occurred on the night of 3rd October 2024, involved the victim and her male friend, who were attacked during a late-night walk.

The attackers tied up the man and then gang-raped the young woman. The case has sparked outrage and prompted a massive investigation across the state. The three suspects, hail from another state, and work as labourers in the Mantarwadi area. They have many crimes including theft registered against them in the past.

Following the incident, the accused attempted to evade capture by misleading authorities. According to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar, the suspects tried to avoid detection by manipulating CCTV footage and moving through less-monitored areas. After the assault, the group first ascended to the top of Bopdev Ghat before descending and traveling to Khed Shivapur in an effort to break the CCTV surveillance chain. They travelled over 80 km just to cover a distance of 20 km.

The Pune Police deployed 60 teams, including 700 officers, to track down the culprits. The investigation spanned over nine days, and despite early difficulties, the police made progress by gathering technical data, including information on 50,000 mobile phone users who had passed through the Bopdev Ghat area in the last 15 days. Poor mobile connectivity in the Ghat region slowed the investigation, but officers worked tirelessly, reviewing CCTV footage. Police had also used a drone to know all the routes leading to Bopdev Ghat.

The police examined 450 hotels and 40 villages, inspecting local businesses such as roadside hotels, dhabas, liquor vendors, and illegal traders for any potential leads. The suspects had attempted to cover their tracks, but one of the three was eventually detained in the Yewlewadi area. The other two suspects were apprehended in Nagpur, with their interrogation still underway.

State Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis, while inaugurating seven new police stations in Pune, lauded the Pune Police for their determined efforts. “One suspect has been arrested, and two have been detained. The police are conducting a thorough investigation,” Fadnavis said, commending their persistence despite the complexities of the case. He further noted that the police’s work in identifying and interrogating individuals with histories of robbery, molestation, and rape in the hills and ghats of Pune district had led to the arrests.

The Bopdev Ghat case has triggered widespread public anger, with many questioning the initial delays in the investigation. In response to the outcry, sketches of the suspects were released, and a reward of ₹10 lakh was announced for information leading to their capture. The case is still under investigation, but with the suspects now in custody, Pune Police hope to swiftly bring justice to the victim.

The report Sule shared highlights that Bengaluru tops the list as Asia’s worst city for traffic, with an average wait time of 28 minutes and 10 seconds per 10 km. Pune follows closely behind, with a travel time of 27 minutes and 50 seconds per 10 km, while Manila in the Philippines and Taichung in Taiwan rank third and fourth, respectively.

On a global scale, London is ranked as the worst city for traffic, with an average wait time of 37 minutes and 20 seconds per 10 km. Other cities such as Dublin, Toronto, Bengaluru, and Pune also feature in the top ten. New Delhi and Mumbai are ranked 44th and 54th globally.

The TomTom Traffic Index, which evaluates 387 cities in 55 countries, provides insight into global traffic patterns based on average travel times, fuel consumption, and CO2 emissions.

Pune, 11th October 2024: Pune Police conducted a series of raids across multiple locations, including Pune, Kurkumbh near Daund, Kupwad in Sangli, a factory in Nashik, New Delhi, Patna, and West Bengal, leading to the seizure of Mephedrone drugs valued at ₹5,000 crores.

This large-scale operation was led by then-Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amol Zende and his team. In recognition of their efforts, the Maharashtra Government has announced a reward of ₹25 lakhs.

A government notification confirmed that the Pune City Police Crime Branch carried out these operations beyond state borders to dismantle a major drug smuggling network. The ₹25 lakh reward will be disbursed by the Director General of Police to the Pune City Commissioner of Police.

Pune CP Amitesh Kumar is expected to distribute the reward among the officers and personnel involved, as per the notification.
