PCMC to launch road widening and upgradation project in Pimple Saudagar

PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh expressing his optimism about the project’s impact, said, “This road development will significantly reduce traffic congestion, provide residents with a safer and smoother commuting experience, and ultimately contribute to a greener, more sustainable Pimpri Chinchwad. We are committed to ensuring that such infrastructure projects are completed efficiently, keeping in mind the growing needs of our citizens.”

The project will also see the installation of utility pipes, stormwater drainage, street lighting, and directional signboards, among other essential services. This initiative is part of PCMC’s larger vision to transform Pimpri Chinchwad into a well-planned, modern urban area while addressing the infrastructural challenges of rapid urbanization.

The project will be funded through the Urban Transport Fund (UTF), and work will be executed under the guidance of the PCMC’s Civil Project Department.

Highlights of the Pimple Saudagar Road Development Project (Shivar Chowk to Govind Garden Chowk – Kunal Icon Road):

Project Cost: Rs 55 crore (Administrative Approval), with a tender amount of Rs42.43 crore.

Accepted Tender Cost : Rs. 33.67 Cr

Project Start : September 2024 (proposed)

Expected Completion Duration : 30 months 

Scope of Work:

Widening of the road to 18 meters and 12 meters

Construction of pedestrian-friendly footpaths (urban design standards).

Installation of planned parking spaces.

Stormwater drainage system for efficient rainwater disposal.

Carriageway concrete paving using the PQC technique.

Laying of utility pipes for water supply, drainage, and OFC.

Street lighting and installation of signboards.
