Lohgaon Technical Airport and the Civil Airport in Pune are used by various airlines and the Indian Air Force for flight operations, both during the day and night. During nighttime operations, runway and ATC tower lights serve as crucial signals, guiding pilots for safe navigation and landing. However, concerns have been raised by the Indian Air Force regarding the use of intense beam lights and laser lights during events near Lohgaon Air Field and within the jurisdiction of the Pune City Police Commissionerate. These lights pose a significant risk to pilots, potentially leading to temporary blindness or distraction, which could result in serious accidents.

Prohibition Details:

Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Joint Commissioner of Police, Pune City, and Special Executive Magistrate, has invoked his special powers under Section 263 of the Indian Civil Safety Code, 2023, to issue this order. The following prohibitions will be in effect:

1. Prohibition on Intense Beam Lights: The release of intense beam lights into the sky by event organizers within a 15 km radius of Lohgaon Air Field and the jurisdiction of the Pune City Police Commissionerate is strictly prohibited.

2. Ban on Laser Lights: The use of laser lights, which can interfere with pilots’ vision, is also banned within the specified area.

This order will remain in force for a period of 60 days from August 24, 2024, to October 23, 2024. Any person found violating this order will face legal consequences under Section 223 of the Indian Code of Justice.
