Pune, 19th August 2024: A total of 98 engineering courses are available in Maharashtra state. Among them, students show the highest inclination towards Computer Engineering courses, with computer science and artificial intelligence also gaining preference.
The Maharashtra State Common Entrance Examination Cell (CET Cell) is conducting the centralized admission process for first-year engineering courses. This year, 1,60,346 seats are available across the state, while 1,92,398 students have registered. Out of 1,76,111 students who submitted their preference lists, 1,26,458 students have been offered admission to the first merit list.
In recent years, a wide range of engineering courses has become available in Maharashtra’s engineering colleges, including those in 5G technology and textiles. Computer-related courses are also prominent. According to data from the CET Cell, the highest number of students, 22,658, were admitted to computer engineering courses. This was followed by 14,747 students in electronics and telecommunication engineering, 14,269 in mechanical engineering, 11,033 in information technology, 9,814 in civil engineering, and 8,070 in electrical engineering.
Additionally, computer-related courses are notably preferred by students. Specifically, 5,768 students were admitted to artificial intelligence and data science courses, 3,447 to computer science and engineering (AI and machine learning), 2,186 to artificial intelligence and data science courses, 2,162 to artificial intelligence and data science courses, 2,127 to computer science and engineering (data science), 1,978 to electronics and computer engineering, and 1,074 to electronics and computer science. Some courses have seen limited interest, with only eight students admitted to fire engineering, oil fats and waxes technology, and electrical, electronics, and power courses, and just two admissions in other courses.
