Pune, 16th September 2024: A businessman has been arrested in connection with a firing incident in Uruli Kanchan, Pune, involving a financial dispute. The arrest led to the seizure of a gun, 175 cartridges for the gun, and 40 cartridges for a pistol.
At a press conference on Monday, Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh detailed the operation that led to the arrests. The primary suspect, Bapu alias Dashrath Vitthal Shitole, aged 46, and his accomplices were apprehended. The arrested individuals include:
Nilima Bapu alias Dashrath Shitole, age 42
Jignesh Dashrath Shitole, age 19
Asha Suresh Bhosle, age 52
Nikhil Ashok Bhosle, age 25
All are residents of Inamdarwasti,Uruli Kanchan, Taluka Haveli. The court has remanded the accused to police custody until September 18.
The case began when farmers Kaluram Mahadev Gote and Sharad Kailas Gote, both residing in Bhivari, Taluka Haveli, had a financial dispute with the accused. After paying a significant amount of money, the farmers were summoned to the accused’s residence. During the confrontation, the accused fired four shots from a pistol at Kaluram and Sharad. Kaluram Gote sustained serious injuries from gunshot wounds to his arm and leg.
Superintendent of Police Deshmukh responded to the incident by visiting the crime scene and directing the arrest of the suspects. The local crime branch team tracked down Bapu Shitole, who was hiding in a field, and took him into custody. During interrogation, Shitole confessed to the crime, leading to the arrest of his accomplices.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police Pankaj Deshmukh, Additional SP Ganesh Biradar, Sub-Divisional Officer Bapurao Dadas, and police inspectors Avinash Shilimkar, Narayan Deshmukh, Shankar Patil, API Rahul Gawde, Dnyaneshwar Bajigire, Sapange, PSI Amit Sid-Patil, Kashinath Rajapure, Balasaheb Karde, Sachin Ghadge, Ajit Bhujbal, and Asif Sheikh.
