Pune City Police to Make Navale Bridge Area Signal-Free to Reduce Traffic Congestion

Katraj, 26th August 2024: To alleviate traffic congestion, the Pune City Police Traffic Branch has decided to make the area under Navale Bridge signal-free. After a thorough study, including traffic flow analysis, signal-free intersections, and proper design, the traffic situation will be improved. Traffic congestion in the Navale Bridge area has become a significant issue, with long queues of vehicles during the morning and evening rush hours. Addressing this challenge has been a priority for the traffic police.

Traffic police officers and experts analyzed the traffic conditions in the Navale Bridge area through physical inspections, video footage, and photographs to understand the underlying issues and explore potential solutions. Additional Commissioner of Police (East) Manoj Patil announced the decision to implement the signal-free square concept. The new route structure will be as follows:

– Vehicles coming from Narhe and heading towards Vadgaon Bridge will proceed straight through the square.
– Vehicles travelling from Katraj to Narhe or Vadgaon will also move without interruption.
– Vehicles going from Vadgaon to Katraj will take a left turn at the square.
– Vehicles travelling from Vadgaon to Bhumkar Chowk, Narhe will need to take Katraj Road, make a U-turn at a new signal placed about 100 meters away, and then return to Navale Bridge Chowk to continue.

A new signal will be installed approximately 100 meters from the U-turn point to facilitate this change.
