Pune: Drunken Driver Rams Container Into Hotel After Being Refused Food, Vehicles Also Damaged

Indapur, 6th September 2024: A shocking incident occurred in Hingangaon, Indapur Taluka, Pune, where a drunken container driver rammed his vehicle into a hotel after being denied food. The driver, enraged by the refusal, first hit two four-wheelers parked in front of the establishment, severely damaging them, and then drove into the hotel building, causing significant damage. No casualties were reported in the accident.

The incident took place at Hotel Gokul, a roadside eatery on the busy Pune-Solapur highway. According to witnesses, the driver of the container was traveling from Solapur to Pune. He stopped at the hotel to request food, but was informed that the establishment was closed for the night. Angered by this, he drove his container into a Scooty and two cars parked outside the hotel before crashing into the building itself.

Eyewitnesses said that after the first collision, locals tried to intervene and asked the driver to stop, but he continued driving, further damaging the property. The driver eventually halted the vehicle, and concerned citizens handed him over to the police.

The Pune-Solapur highway, which is particularly busy during the night, witnessed the chaos caused by this reckless act. Fortunately, no one was injured during the incident, although significant damage was done to the vehicles and the hotel.

The police have taken the container driver into custody, and further investigation is underway to assess the full extent of the damages and determine any additional charges.

The authorities have yet to release the driver’s identity or confirm his blood alcohol levels at the time of the incident.
