Pune: Electric Bike Catches Fire At Padmavati Chowk, Firefighter Praised For Quick Action


Pune, 3rd September 2024: An Assistant Fireman prevented a potentially dangerous situation after an electric bike caught fire at Padmavati Chowk around 1:30 PM today.

The incident occurred when the battery of the two-wheeler suddenly ignited, causing panic among bystanders on the busy road. The owner of the bike, alarmed by the sudden blaze, struggled to control the situation.

Assistant Fireman Mandar Santosh Nalavde, a resident of Bhilarewadi, Pune, was on his way to the Gangadham Fire Station for his duty when he noticed the incident. Without hesitation, Nalavde sprang into action. He quickly accessed a fire extinguisher from a nearby Irani Hotel and promptly extinguished the flames, averting what could have been a more severe fire.

The owner of the bike and his family were profoundly grateful for Nalavde’s timely intervention, expressing their appreciation for his bravery and quick thinking. They also contacted the Chief of the Fire Brigade, Devendra Potfode, to commend Nalavde’s exemplary service.

In response, Fire Chief Devendra Potfode praised Nalavde for his outstanding performance, noting that such dedication and presence of mind are what make the fire brigade a trusted and vital part of the community.
