Pune, 30th August 2024: Due to the prompt action of the Pune Fire Brigade, two people who were drowning in the Mutha river were rescued. These incidents occurred at Bhide Bridge and Karve Nagar.
Today, around 1:30 p.m., the Fire Brigade was alerted that one person had been swept away from the riverbed near Bhide Bridge area. Kamlesh Chaudhary, head of the Kasba Peth Fire Station, and his team quickly responded to the scene. They launched a search operation and found that the person had been washed away due to the released water in the Mutha River. Officers searched the Siddheshwar Ghat area near the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) building and successfully rescued Ajay Kumar Gautam (45), who survived thanks to the prompt action of the fire officers.
In another incident around 7 AM, a person was reported stuck in the riverbed in the Karve Nagar area. Officers from the Warje and Sinhagad Road Fire Station, along with their team, responded immediately. They arrived with fire engines and a boat and used ropes, life rings, and life jackets to rescue the individual trapped in the middle of the river.
Additionally, two elderly women were trapped on the third floor of a building at Sun City on Sinhagad Road around 9 AM when their door suddenly closed. Fire officers used a ladder to enter the house and safely rescue the women.
In the last eight hours, the Pune Fire Brigade has successfully rescued two individuals from the water and assisted two elderly women trapped in a flat, demonstrating exceptional service.
