Pune, 29th September 2024: Kashish Methwani, a remarkable young woman from Pune, has secured an impressive All India Rank (AIR) 2 in the Combined Defence Services (CDS) examination, paving her way to join the Officers Training Academy (OTA) in Chennai. This outstanding achievement marks her entry into the Indian Army as a soon-to-be officer.
Kashish is not just an aspiring officer; she is also the proud titleholder of Miss International India. Her dedication and excellence were recognized when she was awarded the All India Best Cadet award by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting her commitment to service and leadership.
Academically, Kashish has excelled in her studies, completing her MSc thesis in Neuroscience at the Indian Institute of Science (IISC), Bangalore, where she focused on brain gamma waves. She also got the opportunity to go to Harvard for Phd. But she chose to join Indian Army instead. Her scholarly pursuits reflect her diverse interests and capabilities, further underscored by her role as a TEDx speaker and a skilled debater.
In addition to her academic and military aspirations, Kashish is a national-level pistol shooter and an accomplished basketball player. She also showcases her artistic side as a Tabla player and Bharatnatyam dancer, demonstrating her multifaceted talents.
Her parents, Shobha Methwani and Dr. Gurmukh Das, along with her sister Shagufta Gurmukhdas, express immense pride in her achievements. “Kashish has always been driven and passionate. We knew she was destined for great things,” her mother said.
Kashish credits her success to her involvement in the National Cadet Corps (NCC), which she believes played a crucial role in helping her achieve her goals. “The discipline and training I received through the NCC were instrumental in preparing me for this journey,” she stated.
As she prepares for her training at OTA Chennai, Kashish Methwani stands as an inspiring figure, embodying the spirit of determination and excellence. Her journey from Pune to the ranks of the Indian Army serves as a testament to her hard work and dedication.
