Nashik Submerged After Half-Hour Downpour
In Nashik, a brief but intense spell of rain around midday resulted in widespread flooding across the city. The half-hour-long torrential downpour transformed roads into rivers, causing substantial inconvenience to the public. Water accumulated under flyovers and on major thoroughfares, leading to traffic congestion and difficulties for commuters.
The sudden deluge disrupted normal life, with many areas experiencing power outages and water entering residential and commercial premises. Emergency services were on alert to address any critical situations arising from the flooding.
Monsoon Revival Across Maharashtra
After a prolonged dry spell, the monsoon has made a strong comeback across various parts of Maharashtra, including Pune, Nashik, Marathwada, and Vidarbha regions. The renewed rainfall activity has brought relief to farmers who were grappling with the adverse effects of the extended dry period on their crops.
In Washim district, several areas witnessed heavy rainfall accompanied by thunder and lightning for over half an hour. The substantial rainfall is expected to raise water levels in nearby dams and reservoirs, providing much-needed water supply for agricultural activities.
Similarly, Akola district experienced a downpour on Monday afternoon after an eight-day hiatus, alleviating concerns over water scarcity and crop failure among the farming community.
Continuous Rainfall in Konkan Region
The Konkan region, particularly Sindhudurg district, continued to receive heavy rainfall for the second consecutive day. Areas such as Kudal, Sawantwadi, Dodamarg, and Vaibhavwadi reported sustained rain, leading to the issuance of a yellow alert by the meteorological department.
The consistent rainfall has been beneficial for paddy cultivation, with farmers expressing satisfaction over the improved conditions. Previously, the absence of rain had led to the spread of diseases and pests affecting the rice crops, but the recent showers are expected to mitigate these issues.

With the monsoon regaining strength across Maharashtra, authorities have been urged to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions to prevent flood-related disasters.
