Pune: Life Imprisonment Convict Escapes from Yerawada Central Jail; Police Launch Search Operation

Yerawada, 21st August 2024: A convict serving a life sentence has escaped from Yerawada Central Jail in Pune. The escaped prisoner, Raju Pandharinath Dusane (age 43, resident of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), was arrested and sentenced to life imprisonment by the court for murder.

According to police reports, Dusane had a murder case registered against him at Warje Malwadi Police Station. In 2021, the Additional Sessions Court sentenced him to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 5,000. On the evening of August 19, during a routine headcount, Dusane was found missing. It was discovered that he had escaped from the open prison. Jail police officer Avinash Govind Pawar has filed a complaint at Yerawada Police Station, and a case has been registered against Dusane.
