Pune, 6th September 2024: Pune Metro will extend its passenger service until midnight during Ganeshotsav to alleviate traffic congestion and accommodate the influx of citizens visiting the city. In a move aimed at enhancing convenience, additional metro trips have also been scheduled.
Ganeshotsav draws large crowds, with visitors from outside Pune flocking to witness the grand public Ganesha mandals. To manage this surge in commuters, the Pune Metro administration has decided to keep trains running until midnight, providing much-needed relief to citizens.
A significant highlight will be the continuous metro service during Anant Chaturdashi, the final day of the festival. From 6 a.m. on September 17 (Anant Chaturdashi) until 6 a.m. on September 18, metro trains will run uninterrupted for 24 hours. Additionally, on the weekend of September 7 to 9, metro services will operate from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., followed by extended hours from 6 a.m. to midnight between September 10 and 16.
Following the 24-hour service on Anant Chaturdashi, regular operations will resume from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. on September 18. This means metro services will run continuously for 40 hours across two days, providing ample travel options for devotees and visitors alike.
