Pune: Nandanik Sanstha Celebrates 21st Durgotsav in Koregaon Park

Pune, 3rd October 2024: Nandanik Sanstha is all set to celebrate its 21st Durgotsav from October 9th to 13th, 2024, at Rohi Villa Palace Grounds, Lane 7, Koregaon Park. The festivities will span five days, marking the significant days of Durga Puja with grandeur and cultural reverence.

Schedule of Events:
– Maha Sashti: October 9th
– Maha Saptami: October 10th
– Maha Ashtami: October 11th (including Sandhi Puja from 11:43 am to 1:00 pm)
– Maha Navami: October 12th
– Dashami/Dussehra: October 13th

The celebrations emphasize the theme of “Celebration with Responsibility,” focusing on eco-conscious practices such as using sustainable materials for idols, eco-friendly cutlery, and keeping noise levels within permissible limits. Speaking on the occasion, Nandanik Sanstha President Sandip Mukherjee stated, “We ensure that our celebrations comply with all local regulations and contribute positively to Pune’s cultural heritage without causing disruption to the daily lives of local residents.”

Nandanik Sanstha, known for promoting the culture and traditions of Bengal, strives to create a platform for performing arts and foster the study of Bengali language and literature. The organization takes pride in offering Probashi Bengalis (Bengalis living outside West Bengal) and locals the experience of a classic Bengal-style Durga Puja, complete with cultural programs, traditional delicacies, and a devotional atmosphere. “We work hard to recreate the essence of Bengal during Durga Puja, ensuring that devotees can celebrate Navratri with devotion and joy,” Mukherjee added.

Beyond the celebrations, Nandanik Sanstha is deeply involved in social causes. As Mukherjee explained, “We take initiatives to preserve and pass on the rich heritage of Bengal to the next generation. Our programs, especially for children, are inspired by Bengal’s literary legends, and we emphasize the importance of art, culture, and social values.”

The Durgotsav at Rohi Villa Palace will feature a variety of food and non-food stalls, catering to diverse tastes and needs. Pratap Caterers will offer authentic Bengali delicacies, while popular brands like Pizza Hut, Barbeque Nation, One Lounge, and Rolls Mania will also participate. Additionally, several stalls will showcase traditional sarees, literature, art, crafts, jewellery, and artifacts, perfect for Diwali shopping.
