The recruitment process had been stalled due to pending approval of the Recruitment Procedure Rules for Service Entry and Classification of Services (Regulation 2023). However, with the recent issuance of a government decision by Subrao Shinde, the Joint Secretary of the Urban Development Department, the PMRDA can now proceed with hiring.
Sunil Pande, PMRDA’s Joint Commissioner of Administration, stated to a news agency that the recruitment process is expected to take about a year. In addition, employees who transitioned from the Navnagar Development Authority after the merger will be eligible for promotions.
Meanwhile, complaints have arisen regarding contract employees, particularly in the encroachment and engineering departments. Following several complaints, 16 junior engineers were dismissed after grievances were reported to the chief minister. IPS officer Amol Tambe, Chief of the Anti-Encroachment Squad, has been tasked with addressing these issues, raising concerns among other employees about potential actions against them.
With the new recruitment drive, PMRDA plans to reduce the number of contract employees, although some roles, such as constables and assistants, will continue to be filled on a contractual basis.
