Pune, 23rd September 2024: The Petroleum Dealers Association (PDA) has announced that its members will cease sending tankers for loading at filling stations starting October 15, 2024. This decision comes in response to over ten reported thefts in the past two years, which have alarmed dealers and disrupted the trade.

The association has criticized oil companies for their inadequate pricing, stating that the rates provided do not even cover the cost of diesel. Dealers have expressed frustration at being forced to operate under rates dictated by transporters, some of whom engage in theft to offset their expenses.

“The current tender must be scrapped immediately due to the persistent thefts we have witnessed,” stated the PDA. “We call for a new tender to be floated without delay to address these critical issues.”

The PDA highlighted that previous requests to oil companies regarding the thefts and the subsequent illegal activities fostered by transport contractors have been ignored, leading to ongoing profiteering and losses for dealers.

As a result, starting October 15, no dealer will send their tankers for loading, affecting both their own operations and those of co-dealers. The association has urged oil companies and district administration to take this matter seriously to avoid inconvenience to the general public.
