Pimpri Chinchwad, 26th August 2024: On the initiative of the Chikhali-Moshi-Charholi-Pimpri-Chinchwad Society Federation, a dialogue program between housing societies and the administration was held with great enthusiasm. Society members interacted with officials from the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and the Pimpri Chinchwad Police Commissionerate (PCPC) on various issues.

Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge, PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh, PCPC Joint Commissioner of Police Dr Shashikant Mahavarkar, PCMC City Engineer Makarand Nikam, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 3) Shivaji Pawar, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Bapu Bangar, and other dignitaries were present at the event.

Key points discussed during the Samvad program included:

– A decision regarding the freeholding of properties within the Pimpri Chinchwad New Town Development Authority (PCNTDA) limits will be made after the pre-election code of conduct is followed.
– Reservations in newly included villages should be developed as per the demands of the society members.
– The police and district administrations should ensure that liquor stores are not permitted within society premises.
– The number of wardens to be increased to address issues such as traffic congestion, narrow roads, and illegal parking.
– Pre-inspections should be conducted before granting construction permits.
– Rules regarding public spaces, amenities, open spaces, and parking will be strictly enforced.

During the program, a resolution was passed to efficiently provide basic facilities to society members. Sanjivan Sangle, President of the Society Federation, highlighted that a large number of societies are being established in Pimpri-Chinchwad city. After the formation of these societies, a platform was needed to address the various concerns of society members, which led to the establishment of this federation in 2016. The federation continuously works to guide the Maharashtra Co-operative Societies Act of 1960, resolve issues with incomplete work from developers, and address various problems faced by society members by presenting them to local self-government bodies and public representatives. These issues include road, water, garbage, and tax problems.

The federation has registered 1,367 societies, encompassing nearly 40,000 flats, and is regarded as the voice of societies in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Approximately 2,500 society members participated in the ‘Societies Dialogue’ program. The federation is making sincere efforts to resolve the pressing civic issues of society owners in the Bhosari Assembly Constituency by bringing them to the attention of the PCPC and PCMC administrations and MLA Mahesh Landge.

The administration has assured that all the problems raised during the dialogue will be followed up and resolved in coordination with the relevant authorities. PCMC Commissioner Shekhar Singh stated that PCMC will soon address potholes in the city and take action against encroachments as per society members’ complaints, with instructions given to the concerned authorities. He also emphasized the importance of water conservation, noting that per capita water consumption in the city is high, and urged residents to focus on saving water and avoiding waste.

This initiative was praised, with a recommendation that such ‘communication’ should take place every three to four months. The administration pledged to continue efforts in this regard in the future.
