Pune, 29th August 2024: Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has ordered to clean Pune City during Ganeshotsav in three shifts. It has been ordered not to let garbage fall in the open and dispose of the same immediately. Similarly, the PMC has announced a bag of organic fertilizer each to 15,000 citizens who will donate Ganesha idols to the PMC.
Prithviraj BP, Additional Commissioner, and Sandeep Kadam, Deputy Commissioner, held a meeting of 15 ward office officials, sanitation workers along with health inspectors regarding the same.
During Ganeshotsav the cleanliness of the city gets compromised resulting in the city being untidy because of no immediate action to dispose of it. Therefore, it is instructed that each ward office should depute staff to keep the premises clean in three shifts within their limits. It is also informed to keep a keen eye on garbage prime spots and to take punitive action accordingly.
Due to the flood in the river, a large amount of silt and garbage has been washed away on the ghats of the river. An order has been given in the meeting to encourage the citizens to immerse the Ganpati in the manmade pots near the ghat instead of immersing it in the river.
It is also informed that fertilizer is going to be prepared at the site of Pashan Lake from the wet leftovers after the immersion process. Discussions have been held with social organizations for this.
During Ganeshotsav, 400 mobile toilets will be placed in various areas. But as this mobile toilet is mostly unhygienic, it is seen that not many citizens use it. Deputy Commissioner Sandeep Kadam ordered to set mobile toilets only on major roads so that they can be cleaned regularly.
“Instructions have been given in the meeting to ensure that the city should be clean during Ganeshotsav and provide good facilities to the citizens. 15,000 citizens participating in the idol donation program will be given a bag of three kg of organic fertilizer. One thousand bags of fertilizers under one ward office have been arranged in 15 ward offices”, he added further.
