Pune, 21st September 2024: The accused who staged a crime scene to make it appear as a murder for robbery has been arrested. Solving the case, Pune Police arrested the suspect within 10 hours. The victim was killed by a man who used to be a friend of his wife and was considered an “obstacle.” The incident occurred earlier today at 12:30 AM.
Warje Malwadi Police have arrested Prasanna Sahebrao Kokare (27, resident of Sinhagad Road). The deceased has been identified as Amol Nivangune.
According to police reports, Warje Malwadi Police Station received a call reporting a murder and robbery. Senior officials, along with officers from Warje Malwadi Police Station, rushed to the scene. After conducting a technical investigation and interrogations, Prasanna Kokare was identified as the suspect. Information revealed that he lived near Anand Vihar on Sinhagad Road, and police went to the location. Sensing their arrival, he attempted to flee, but police pursued and arrested him.
Kokare confessed to the crime, stating that he had a “friendly” relationship with the deceased’s wife, which led the deceased to suspect an affair. The deceased had previously assaulted Kokare under the same suspicion. Due to the assault and the deceased being an “obstacle” to his friendly relationship with the wife, Kokare killed Nivangune and attempted to stage the crime as a robbery to conceal the true motive. The possible involvement of the deceased’s wife and other accomplices is under investigation.
This operation was conducted under the guidance of Pune City Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma, Additional Commissioner of Police (Crime) Shailesh Balkawade, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Nikhil Pingle, and Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime 1) Ganesh Ingale.
The team, led by Senior Police Inspector Nandkumar Bidwai, in charge of the Anti-Dacoity Cell and Vehicle Theft 1, and Senior Police Inspector Shailesh Sankhe, in charge of the Anti-Extortion Cell, included Police Constables Sayaji Chavan, Ganesh Dhage, Duryodhan Gurav, Rajendra Landge, Prafulla Chavan, Mahesh Patil, Saikumar Karke, and Ankush Bhise. Officials from Warje Police Station, including Senior Police Inspector Shendge, also assisted.
