Pune, 6th September 2024: Two young IT engineers lost their lives after being hit by a speeding Porsche in the Kalyaninagar area on May 19 this year. The car, allegedly driven by the son of builder Vishal Agarwal, led to his arrest for trying to sabotage the investigation. The case has stirred significant attention, with various individuals reportedly attempting to assist Agarwal indirectly. Among those questioned in the case is NCP MLA Sunil Tingre, according to Pune Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar.
The Kalyaninagar accident has been thoroughly investigated by the Pune police, despite criticisms and doubts raised about the procedure. Social media was rife with allegations of mishandling, but the police have maintained that they followed the proper course of action.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a press conference, Police Commissioner Amitesh Kumar stated that actions have been taken against everyone found guilty in the accident case, adding that MLA Tingre visited the Yerawada police station after the incident and was questioned about his potential involvement.
While it remains unclear whether MLA Tingre exerted any pressure on the police, the investigation has revealed his connection to the case, Commissioner Kumar said.
The investigation continues with a focus on both technical and circumstantial evidence. Despite some skepticism, police officials have assured that the inquiry is proceeding with due diligence. “After three and a half months, the accused has not been granted bail, which proves the thoroughness of the police investigation,” added Kumar, reinforcing the department’s stance on the fairness of the probe.
