Previously, NHAI was handling the Green Corridor project between Pune and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Since the proposed ring road and the Green Corridor overlap in some areas, it was initially decided that NHAI would manage the 31-kilometer segment. However, this decision was reversed, and the project was reassigned to MSRDC.

MSRDC has divided the 31-kilometer stretch into three phases and has issued tenders for the same. The deadline for tender submissions is set for the first week of September. Earlier tenders were deemed controversial as they came in 40-45 percent above the estimated cost.

The new plan aims to streamline the ring road’s construction, which will now be undertaken in twelve phases.
