Pune River Revival To Hold Silent March For Flood Victims On August 25

This citizen-driven initiative is open to all residents of Pune, including students, public representatives, artists, and environmentalists. The organizers are calling on the administration to adopt a comprehensive and sustainable approach to river management, considering the impacts of climate change and the recent floods.

The key demands of the march include the immediate removal of obstructions and waste from the river, adherence to flood line regulations in city planning, conducting scientific surveys of groundwater sources, and halting unscientific projects such as riverbank beautification.

At the conclusion of the march, a letter outlining these demands will be submitted to the authorities. A joint flood control meeting will also be convened, involving various stakeholders, including government officials and experts, to discuss measures to mitigate future flood risks.

Pune River Revival encourages all Punekars to join the Silent March and show their support for the protection and revitalization of the city’s rivers.
