Pune, 9th September 2024: Shivgarjana Pathak, Pune’s first dhol-tasha troupe to promote equal participation of men and women, took a stand for women’s safety during their performance at the Tulshibag Ganpati Aagman Sohla. The troop carried placards and banners advocating for women’s safety and spreading awareness about women’s rights and security throughout the event.
Lalit Pawar, the head of Shivgarjana Pathak, highlighted the importance of using the Ganesh festival as a platform for social advocacy. “Our pathak was founded to promote equal participation of men and women. In today’s times, it’s crucial to raise awareness about women’s safety, and we hope to use every opportunity, like the Ganesh festival, to spread this message,” said Pawar.
The initiative is part of Shivgarjana Pathak’s ongoing commitment to social causes, using their prominent presence during festivals to raise awareness and encourage the community to foster a safer environment for women. Their efforts were well-received by attendees, marking another successful step towards making public spaces safer and more inclusive for women.
