Pune Truck Incident: Fire Brigade Successfully Rescues Recycler Suction Machine From Pit At City Post Office

After clearing the drainage blockage, as the recycler suction machine was exiting the City Post Office premises, the ground suddenly caved in, creating a well-like hole into which the machine fell. Fortunately, the driver jumped out of the vehicle just in time and escaped unharmed.

At around 4:15 PM, Bhavani Peth Ward Office was informed about the incident through Faraskhana Police Station. Upon receiving the information, officials from Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) Fire Brigade and Ward Office, including Deputy Commissioner of Zone 5, Dr. Chetana Kerure, Department Head Aniruddha. Pawaskar, Dinkar Gojare, Suhas Jadhav, Assistant Commissioners of Kasba-Vishrambaug, Kisan Dagadkhair, and Bhavani Peth Ward Office, along with Fire Officer Kamlesh Chaudhari and other concerned staff, arrived at the scene. They coordinated with the police, crane operators, and the electricity department to handle the situation.

Two cranes with a capacity of 15 tons each were called in to remove the 15-ton recycler suction machine that had fallen into an estimated 20-foot-deep pit. Due to the busy traffic in the City Post Office area, the PMC’s Fire Brigade RESCUE VAN escorted the cranes to the site with assistance from traffic police, ensuring the smooth flow of traffic.

Using the two cranes, the recycler suction machine and a two-wheeler were successfully retrieved from the pit. After inspecting the incident site, Pune Municipal Commissioner Rajendra Bhosale (IAS) announced that a preliminary investigation would be conducted by technical officers from the City Post Office, Pune Metro, and PMC to determine the cause of the incident. Since the incident occurred on City Post Office premises, the Commissioner instructed the relevant department to take further necessary action.
