Pune’s Footpaths In Shambles: Citizens Suffer Due To Municipal Corporation’s Negligence, 24 Roads In Pathetic Condition

The survey identified footpaths on DP Road (Aundh), Fergusson College Road, Jangli Maharaj Road, and Sinhgad River Bank Road as being among the worst. Broken tiles, potholes, and illegal parking have turned these footpaths into obstacles courses.

Citizens have expressed frustration and concern about the lack of attention from authorities. “I’ve seen senior citizens and children struggling to navigate these footpaths,” said a local resident. “It’s a miracle no one has been seriously injured yet.”

SPTM has launched a social media campaign to raise awareness and pressure the Municipal Corporation to take action. Photos and videos of the worst footpaths are being shared on ‘X’ until September 13.

“The Municipal Corporation must take immediate action to repair and maintain footpaths,” Abhyankar demanded. “Citizens deserve safe and accessible pedestrian infrastructure.”

Some of the worst footpath locations include:

* DP Road (Aundh): Broken tiles and potholes

* Fergusson College Road: Encroached by vendors

* Jangli Maharaj Road: Uneven surface and broken railings

* Sinhgad River Bank Road: Illegal parking and debris

The SPTM’s campaign has sparked outrage and calls for change. Citizens are urged to share their experiences and photos of problematic footpaths to support the campaign.
