The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited’s (PMPML) mobile application, ‘Apli PMPML,’ has faced difficulties since its launch on August 17, with 40,000 downloads to date. While the app aims to enhance public transportation in Pune, it has encountered functional issues and user complaints.

Passengers have reported problems with the live location feature, online ticket booking, and user interface. The app’s integration of Pune Metro ticket purchases, a highly anticipated feature, remains non-functional. These issues have led to frustration among users and raised questions about the app’s utility.

Commuters like Samiksha Jain and Reshma Kale have expressed concerns about the app’s launch and functionality. PMPML officials have acknowledged some issues but claim a positive response from passengers.

Samrat Thorave from the IT team of PMPML shared insights with Pune Pulse, “We have 1600 buses, with 1200 connected to Vehicle Location Tracking devices, which cost Rs 8000 per bus. We are working on integrating 400 blue buses without tracking features and expect to complete this within a month. Currently, 150 buses face data fetching issues due to network failures, but we aim to resolve this within a week.”

Thorave also addressed user complaints, “We receive 10-15 complaints daily regarding tracking issues. Many users face problems while purchasing passes, but we are working to resolve these issues manually.”

The PMPML is actively working to address the app’s functional shortcomings and improve user experience. As the app continues to evolve, it remains to be seen whether it will meet the needs of Pune’s commuters and become a valuable tool for public transportation.
