The couple was forced to walk 15 kilometers from the hospital to their village, Pattigaon, carrying their sons’ bodies, as no ambulance was available to transport them. Wadettiwar criticized the state government for its failure to provide basic healthcare services, saying, “This is the grim reality of Gadchiroli’s healthcare system, where Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis is the Guardian Minister.”
Wadettiwar also pointed out that despite grand claims of development by the ruling MahaYuti alliance, the ground reality in remote areas like Gadchiroli remains dire. This is the second such incident in Maharashtra’s Vidarbha region this week.
On September 1, a pregnant woman in the Melghat tribal region of Amravati delivered a stillborn baby at home after an ambulance failed to arrive on time. The woman, Kavita Sakol, later succumbed to her own complications, further highlighting the lack of adequate healthcare in rural Maharashtra.
Both incidents have sparked outrage on social media, with many calling for urgent improvements in healthcare services. Despite the growing public outcry, the state government has yet to issue an official response
