Travel influencer compares Vande Bharat train food to 5-star hotel; Gets trolled by netizens

Shashank Gupta, a travel vlogger, was part of this special journey and he took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle to share his review about the meal served on the train.

In his caption, he mentioned that he travelled on the Vande Bharat Express train no, 20981 from Udaipur to Agra. Gupta stated: “The food in this train was no less than any five-star hotel in terms of taste.” During the journey, he was served a breakfast tray featuring poha, cutlets, aloo sabzi, paranthas, curd, namkeen, and a Choco-Pie dessert.

However, his review quickly attracted criticism, with many users questioning the authenticity of his opinion and accusing him of being paid to post positive feedback.

“If this is 5-star food then I’m Shahrukh Khan,” wrote one X user. “Tell me you’ve never been to a 5-star without telling me you’ve never been to a 5-star,” another said.

A third user commented: “Someone has to take you to a nice restaurant, urgently!” “3 out of 7 items are packaged and not even made by IRCTC,” said a netizen.

Despite backlash and a stream of negative comments, Gupta remained undeterred and defended his stance. In a separate post, titled “The truth behind my Vande Bharat Express Food Review,” Gupta said his opinion was genuine and his review was not influenced by external factors.

The influencer posted that he understood his feedback on Vande Bharat Express’ food sparked a debate. The travel influencer admits that the food may not be of the same standard as that served at a five-star hotel.

He also assured netizens that his review was not influenced by external factors. Instead of focusing on trolling and personal attacks, he urged netizens to share their honest food experiences.

Meanwhile, the official handle of the IRCTC responded to his post, saying, “Thank you very much for the pleasant remarks. They genuinely motivate us to keep doing our best job. We look forward to servicing you again.”

It is pertinent to note that before embarking on the trip, Gupta expressed his gratitude to Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, DRM Lucknow, and the Ministry of Railways for the opportunity.
