UK’s Southampton University To Open Its Campus In Gurugram In 2025


As reported by the media, the University of Southampton has been engaged in India for nearly 50 years, fostering strong and mutually beneficial partnerships.

According to a tweet from the Press Trust of India, the University of Southampton will set up its campus in Gurugram and start offering courses in 2025. In the QS World Rankings 2025, it is ranked 80th with a score of 64.1, including 50.1 for academic reputation and 40.7 for faculty-to-student ratio. The university offers over 300 degree programs across various fields like Engineering, Medicine, and Social Sciences. Notably, in the QS World Rankings 2024, it had six subjects in the global top 50, including Nursing at 6th and Archaeology at 33rd.

The University of Southampton offers scholarships for Indian students, including the Narotam Sekhsaria Foundation Loan Scholarship and the GREAT Scholarships 2023. To qualify for the Narotam Sekhsaria scholarship, applicants must be Indian nationals under 30 years old by January 31, 2024, have graduated from an accredited Indian university, or be in their final year. Those planning to pursue postgraduate studies at top institutions in Fall 2024 and awaiting university acceptance are also eligible. Scholarship awards depend on securing admission.

The GREAT Scholarships 2023 from the University of Southampton, in collaboration with the British Council, offers a £10,000 reduction in tuition fees for Indian students. This scholarship is available for those applying to MSc Economics, MSc Actuarial Sciences, MSc Optical Engineering, and certain one-year master’s programs in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. To apply, candidates must have an offer for an eligible course, be Indian citizens, meet English language requirements, and be willing to promote UK higher education and demonstrate future contributions to socio-economic development post-graduation.
