Ulhasnagar, 22nd August 2024: Renowned for his meticulous work at the Pune Municipal Corporation and often referred to as “The Infrastructure Man,” Vikas Dhakane has been appointed as the new Municipal Commissioner of Ulhasnagar Municpal Corporation. Sources within the bureaucracy indicate that his notable contributions to Pune’s infrastructure development, coupled with his recent transfer due to Election Commission guidelines, led the government to entrust him with this crucial top role in Ulhasnagar.

Dhakane succeeds Aziz Shaikh, whose term as commissioner has concluded. Residents of Ulhasnagar are optimistic about benefiting from Dhakane’s expertise and are hopeful that his leadership will bring about significant improvements, especially in addressing ongoing civic issues such as traffic congestion and stalled infrastructure projects in key areas.

While Ulhasnagar gains a skilled administrator, Punekars with a hope to get him again bid farewell to Dhakane recently who has made impactful contributions to the city’s infrastructure development. As Additional Commissioner in Pune, Dhakane was instrumental in advancing numerous projects that reshaped the city’s urban landscape & resolved Civic issues.

Dhakane’s transfer from Pune was in compliance with Election Commission of India guidelines, which mandated the transfer of Municipal Commissioners or Additional Commissioners who have served for more than three years in their current postings, particularly if they are in their home district within Maharashtra.
His transfer from Pune had sparked concerns among housing societies, civic activists, and the general public, who were taken aback by the loss of an enterprising & problem solving Bureaucrat.

Throughout his tenure, Dhakane played a pivotal role in addressing road-related issues and spearheading essential projects, including the enhancement of road infrastructure and the improvement of various facilities including Balgandharv Auditorium & educational facilities in the Pune region.
