According to the police, the accused was a rickshaw driver and was married but living separately from his wife. He had been staying alone in the city. The victim, Shivani, had also lost her husband.
A few months ago, Vinayak met Shivani while she was commuting in his rickshaw. Over time, their acquaintance turned into a romantic relationship, and for the past two months, they had been living together in Thergaon. However, Vinayak began suspecting Shivani’s fidelity. Acting on his suspicion, he strangled her to death. After committing the crime, he fled with her body in the rickshaw.
Police Investigation
Once the police were informed of the crime, they traced the rickshaw through its registration number and gathered details from the rickshaw owner. Vinayak had been driving the rickshaw on rent. When the police reached his residence for inquiry, they found him missing. Teams were dispatched to locate him, and information was received that he was headed to Bijapur in Karnataka. Wakad police arrested him at Solapur railway station. Assistant Police Inspector Arjun Pawar is leading the investigation.
