In the video, which has gone viral, it can be seen that the river is flowing 9 feet above the danger mark and there’s no sign of retreat. The flood waters also witnessed a moving crocodile with a street dog clutched into its jaws.
“Vadodara is facing a double threat with both floods and crocodile sightings. As the Vishwamitri River overflows, crocodiles are seen venturing into various human settlements across the city,” an X user posted.

After the crocodile’s video went viral, residents claimed that it was not an isolated incident. According to them, groups of crocodiles have entered many localities in Vadodara due to the overflowing Vishwamitri River. Residents are now afraid of leaving their homes due to fear of crocodiles.
More than 3,000 people living in low-lying areas in and around Vadodara were shifted to safer places after the Vishwamitri river, which flows through the heart of the city, crossed the danger mark of 25 feet on Tuesday morning, August 27.
Meanwhile, rain-related incidents claimed nine more lives in Gujarat, taking the death toll to 16 in two days.
With rains continuing to lash some parts of the state for the fourth consecutive day on Wednesday, August 28, another 8,500 people were relocated and rescued from flood-affected areas.
