Major Accident Averted as Kalindi Express Hits Gas Cylinder on Railway Track Near Kanpur

Kanpur Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Harish Chander, confirmed the incident and stated that the loco pilot had applied emergency brakes upon spotting the cylinder. “The cylinder collided with the train and fell aside, after which the train came to a halt. The Railway Protection Force (RPF) and local police were immediately notified,” he said.

Forensic teams, along with senior officials, are investigating the scene. ACP Chander added that the damaged cylinder and other ‘objectionable material’ found at the site are being examined. Despite the incident, rail traffic remained unaffected, and all other trains continued to run on schedule.

Authorities are treating the situation seriously as they continue to investigate the motive behind placing the cylinder on the tracks.
