Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Gears Up For Ganpati Idol Visarjan


The public has been actively responding to the corporation’s call for an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav. In Sangvi, Nirmalya (floral waste) collection pits have been set up, where devotees are discarding their Nirmalya responsibly. The ‘Ganesh Visarjan Mobile Squad’ vehicle is collecting idols at these ghats, and citizens are willingly donating their idols. The corporation has put up boards with instructions on celebrating an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav, and citizens are showing a commitment to this cause.

In Pimpri Chinchwad city, Ganesh idols from mandals are immersed on the ninth and tenth day of the festival. The idols from Ganesh mandals are immersed at ghats in Pimpri, Chinchwad, and Bhosari. The Municipal Corporation will, as usual, welcome Ganesh mandals and devotees arriving for the immersion.

On September 16, 2024, starting from 6 PM, Ganesh mandals and devotees from Bhosari will be welcomed at the reception desk near the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Bhosari. Similarly, on September 17, 2024, Ganesh mandals and devotees will be welcomed from 3 PM at the corporation’s reception desks in Karachi Chowk, Pimpri, and Chafekar Chowk, Chinchwad.

This year, the Municipal Corporation has implemented various services to ensure the conclusion of Ganeshotsav is celebrated in a safe and enthusiastic manner while protecting the environment. A total of 85 immersion ghats and idol collection centers have been set up at various locations across the city. Additionally, to encourage an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav, the corporation has established 15 large decomposition centers, each 40 feet by 30 feet and 5 feet deep, in different areas. For the first time, these centers will scientifically process Ganesh idols through chemical decomposition. Lifeguards have been appointed at these centers.

The Municipal Corporation is collecting Ganesh idols, and artificial immersion tanks have been set up at the ghats. The fire department has deployed rescue teams with life jackets, life rings, ropes, boats, megaphones, and other rescue equipment at 27 ghats. Snake catchers, lifeguards, security personnel, and fire department staff have also been stationed at each ghat. Additionally, staff have been appointed through regional offices to ensure necessary arrangements at the immersion ghats.

Fully equipped ambulances and medical teams have been deployed at the immersion ghats. For the convenience of citizens, medical officers, staff nurses, brothers, and ward boys will be available at the ghats, along with medical supplies and medicines. Garbage trucks and sanitation workers have been assigned to the immersion sites, and manpower has been organized for idol and Nirmalya collection. The public is also being urged to celebrate an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav with the help of various environmental and voluntary organizations.

In case of emergencies during Ganesh Visarjan, the Municipal Corporation’s emergency response team is ready. All efforts are being made to prevent any untoward incidents, with necessary facilities provided at all ghats. Additionally, idol donation and collection centers have been set up to encourage an eco-friendly Ganeshotsav. Citizens are requested to cooperate by donating idols or using artificial immersion tanks for a more environmentally conscious celebration.
