Pune Airport Sees Record 200 Flight Movements in a Day

Pune, 16th September 2024: Pune airport witnessed a new milestone on Sunday, recording a total of 200 flight movements in a single day. The tally included 100 arrivals and 100 departures, marking the first time the airport has achieved this figure.

Previously, daily flight movements at Pune airport typically ranged between 185 and 190. “Recently, new routes have been introduced, such as flights to Goa, Sindhudurg, and Jalgaon. These additions have contributed to the increase in flight traffic,” said an airport official.

However, the official noted that this high number is unlikely to be consistent every day. “Some of these flights are not part of daily schedules, so the total movements will vary. But it’s encouraging to see us reach the 200 mark,” they added.

With the winter schedule approaching in a little over a month, airport authorities are optimistic about further growth. “The newly constructed terminal has ample space, and we are not anticipating any operational difficulties. We expect to see additional flights soon, especially with the potential for more international connections,” the official shared.

They also highlighted the ongoing efforts to encourage airlines to introduce new routes, noting the active involvement of Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol. The winter flight schedule is set to commence on October 27.
