Chakan, 4th October 2024: Several newspapers recently published reports about the alleged relocation of 50 companies from Chakan MIDC. However, the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC) has clarified that these reports are incorrect. According to MIDC, no companies from the Chakan industrial sector have migrated to Gujarat, Karnataka, or Andhra Pradesh.
Chakan Industrial Area, covering Phases 1 to 4, spans a total of 2,700 hectares. MIDC has developed a road network of 109 kilometers in the area, alongside other essential infrastructure such as street lamps, a water supply center with a capacity of 80 lakh liters per day, a fire station, and parking facilities to support the industrial entrepreneurs.
Following the heavy rains that began in June 2024, some roads developed potholes. The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) subsequently carried out repairs and maintenance to ensure the roads remained in good condition. In response to requests from entrepreneurs and employees in the Chakan industrial sector, the concretization of the main roads in Phases 2 and 4 is currently underway.
A request was made to the Secretary of the Federation of Chakan Industries to provide a list of the 50 companies allegedly migrating, as claimed. However, the Secretary was unable to provide this information. Furthermore, MIDC clarified that no complaints or reports have been received from entrepreneurs regarding the relocation of companies within the Chakan industrial sector.
It was also rumored that Mahindra & Mahindra was planning to shift operations to Gujarat. However, a press note from PCMC has refuted this claim, stating that Mahindra & Mahindra, when contacted via email, confirmed that it has no plans to relocate.
